You may already be able to tell from the poor girl to my left that I am currently reading Les Misérables which is, so far, one of the best books I have ever read. I'm not much for the religious overtones, they sometimes seem a bit preachy, but if I just read past them I find the story itself to be very engaging.Victor Hugo also includes a lot of his own views on the corruption of society, politics, and other things which give the book a very unique "flavor."
I hate to admit it, but the reason I started reading this book at all is my infatuation with the musical of the same name. Les Misérables is the best musical I have ever heard, and I recommend both it, and the book, to all that are interested.
